Supporting Project Segfault
FOSS United's grant to Project Segfault
We are happy to announce a grant of INR 20,000 to Project Segfault, an initiative dedicated to hosting privacy-friendly frontends and other valuable public services since 2022. You can find out more about the 25+ services hosted by Project Segfault here.
Project Segfault also hosts a pubnix, which provides people a shared environment to learn more about hosting services and interact with a Linux shell/server. This project is undergoing expansion currently to bring more features and improve stability for users.
This grant addresses the team’s funding needs for development and hardware, enabling them to sustain operations for a year. The funds will primarily be used for Virtual Private Servers (VPS) and backup systems. A detailed breakdown of expenses is available in their monthly transparency report.
Project Segfault is a team that was formerly made of a bunch of friends who had a server and wanted to poke around and learn how to use servers, as time went on we earned experience from playing enough with servers, and as we also used the server for dogfooding our own stuff we're set to keeping it stable for everyone who wants to use it, we host a variety of useful services (such as privacy frontends to avoid being tracked...or if you just don't like the default frontend) for free and at no cost for daily life usage, we also provide a free pubnix that is available upon requesting a signup that we approve for anyone who wants to have a little shared linux space.
