FOSS Foundation2.0

We’re excited to bring you FOSS Foundations 2.0 in association with Freescape, IIIT Kalyani and Ubuntu India , a three-day program planned for 5,6,7th Feb 2025 designed to provide knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience in free and open-source software.

Day 1: Introduction to FOSS

• • Learn the basics of FOSS: its principles, history, and impact.

  • Understand open-source licenses (e.g., GPL, MIT) and FOSS ethics.

  • Engage in an interactive panel discussion with FOSS advocates and a Q&A session.

• Day 2: Linux Fest

  • Explore various Linux distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, Mint, Arch).

  • Get hands-on help with Linux installation, bootable drives, and system setup.

  • Learn Linux tools and customization tips.

• Day 3: Hands-On Open-Source Contribution

  • Introduction to Git, GitHub, and open-source contribution workflows.

  • Practical sessions on creating repositories, making commits, and submitting pull requests.

  • Mentorship to guide first-time contributors through the open-source process.
