Pragmatic Software Engineering Stories from the Trenches

Approved

I believe we learn best by building, deploying, breaking and fixing things on production. Period.

Here are a few sample stories from my work on production - https://one2n.io/pragmatic-software-engineering-stories I'll cover these in a talk format.

In this talk, I'll cover a few real-world scenarios that I faced in production. I'll cover how the incident happened, what were some steps taken, and how it got resolved (and sometimes it didn't). I'll cover this in a story format that's engaging for the audience.

Given this is about 30 mins talk, I’ll cover about 3 stories (10 mins per story) where I’ll set the context, the problem faced, how things turned out in the end, and some learnings from these production experiences for everyone.

I'll make sure to present all the relevant technical details that will make the audience feel that they are the protagonist in the story. I'll walk through their thought process and help them discover their blind spots. This will help them prepare themselves in real production incidents that they may face in their career.

Believe me, this kind of talk isn't tried before, but this is one of the best ways to learn and grow as an engineer. I'll cover the three (or more) stories such that everyone has something to learn and take away from the session, even if you're a student or a professional.
