Proposal status is Approved
Session Description

My talk is going to be about FLOSS fund, which is an initiative from Zerodha to support Free/Libre Open Source projects. The aim of FLOSS fund is to donate up to $1 million annually to support FOSS projects. It also introduces a new spec called funding.json to help solve the discoverability problem with open source funding.

The talk will primarily focus on

  1. - Why FLOSS fund was created
  2. - The problems that we are trying to solve
  3. - funding.json as a decentralized mechanism for discovering projects that need funding
  4. - Some long term goals of this project

I will also briefly showcase the FLOSS fund portal where open source projects can apply for funding.
