Diagram as Code - Automating Architecture Documentation with Open Source

Approved
Session Description

We often spend hours creating architecture diagrams, but after a few changes in the application or infrastructure, they become outdated.

Updating them manually is time-consuming, so many teams simply stop doing it.

In this session, I'll show how we can generate infrastructure and cloud architecture diagrams using code instead of drawing them manually.

Using the open-source Diagrams, we'll create AWS, Kubernetes, and microservice architecture diagrams that can be stored in Git, updated easily, and even generated automatically through CI/CD pipelines.

The session will include live demos, real examples, and a few best practices that you can start using in your own projects.

Key Takeaways

• Understand what Diagram as Code is and why it is useful.
• Learn how to generate cloud and infrastructure diagrams using diagrams.
• See how architecture diagrams can be stored and maintained in Git.
• Learn how to automate diagram generation using CI/CD.
• Take home practical ideas to keep architecture documentation up to date with open-source tools.
