India’s planetary exploration missions Chandrayaan-1, Chandrayaan-2, and the Mars Orbiter Mission have produced a wealth of scientific data, much of which is now openly accessible through the ISRO Science Data Archive (ISDA). However, these datasets remain underutilized due to lack of awareness and technical entry barriers. This workshop aims to bridge that gap by introducing participants to hands-on workflows for working with ISRO’s planetary datasets using free and open-source tools.

The session will focus on Lunar and Martian datasets, guiding you through steps like data access, visualization, and basic analysis. Tools such as QGIS, Python (with libraries like Rasterio and Spectral Python) will be used to process and interpret these datasets. You will learn how to work with Planetary Data System (PDS) formats, generate false color composites, extract spectral profiles, and analyze surface morphology—all without commercial software.

Whether you're a developer, student, or a citizen scientist, this workshop offers a meaningful opportunity to explore real data from India’s space missions and gain practical skills to contribute to open planetary science using accessible tools.
