Project Research Associate | IIT BombayI am a structural engineer specialising in steel structure design & computation, and automation in structural engineering. I employ a detailed parametric study to tackle any problem to provide an effective and economical solution. This process has strengthened my fundamentals in steel structure design. This allows me to actively contribute to Osdag and delve deeper into Steel Structure Design.
Reviews
This has a very specific target audience, and I am not sure how it helps the FOSS community to know about the software.
We need people in open source to take notice of problems elsewhere, and eventually build.
The proposal highlights how open-source tool OSDAG is solving a real-world engineering problem through FOSS. However, I would recommend elaborating more clearly on how interested developers or FOSS contributors can get involved in the project.
Love this problem. It is niche, but I think it benefits to have niche talks - there will always be some learnings at the intersections. I'd suggest the proposer to have steel design as a core and have other topics on software design and development at the periphery to make the talk relatable to all
It's niche, but this also can create awareness of how OS project that's very specific to a domain evolve
This is fascinating ! I am wondering if this is a tool that is easy enough to be used beyond just education and by civil engineers. After all, every FOSS developer stays somewhere. Why not simulate it ? If this talk can touch upon some aspects that hobbyists can use, then that will amplify the utility of this software.
