Extracting AES Keys from Embedded Devices Using Open Source Hardware

Session Description

Embedded devices can unintentionally leak secrets through their physical behaviour, allowing attackers to recover cryptographic keys without exploiting software vulnerabilities.
The talk mainly focuses on the demo of how power analysis is done against an AES encryption within embedded devices using the open-source ChipWhisperer platform.
The talk will be covering an introduction into side channel attacks, a key extraction demo using chipWhisperer hardware and practical ways of defence against these kinds of attacks.
For the demo, power analysis will be done on an embedded device, the AES secret key will be extracted and this will be used to decrypt the encrypted data within the device.
