Approved
Session Description

Samaaja is a FOSS for location based citizen engagement co-created with the collaboration between FOSS United and Reap Benefit. Samaaja makes the engagement of citizens, volunteers, beneficiaries effective through tech as an enabler to work in scale. Samaaja has been the backend force of 1. Changemaker Portfolio 2. Samaajdata Collective and 3. Leaderboard.

Samaaja has played an important role of enabling consistent engagement and meaningful incentives in the Jaldoot Program - a collaborative initiative of Reap Benefit, INREM and Jal Jeevan Mission - Assam. The goal of Jal doot program is to activate first mile water champions in every village of Assam. Technology and Samaaja has played a crucial role in enabling 17k+ Jaldoot in taking 14200+ actions and surveyed 5000 villages on the water supply schemes. Now, the Jaldoot program is a National Policy

During my talk, I will cover how FOSS has enabled social impact with respect to Jaldoot Program, how Samaaja has enabled meaning incentives and engagement when working in scale through low code tech. How interested programmers and volunteers can work on FOSS projects that can create impact on the ground and in scale.
