Sustainable-AI: How Capitalism is Burning the Planet for Profit — and What Open Source Can Do About It

Every time you use AI to rephrase a message to your crush, to sound more smarter, or you make it write an email, or do any menial tasks that could have been easily done by you, A data-centre somewhere drinks a few table spoons of water, emits more CO₂ than you walking to your fridge and back. Sounds Harmless right?  But multiply this with a billion of queries that get processed a day, and how many gallons of water is used and the volume of CO2 that is emitted.

This talk puts hard numbers on AI's environmental cost — bringing realistic stats and numbers to light— and raises the question who profits and who actually pays. Spoiler: it's not the billionaires. We'll cover India's data center crisis, Grok's deepfake scandal, Nvidia's DLSS 5 controversy, and why Open Source is the most powerful accountability tool we have.
