The idea of this discussion is to bring together students, faculties, fresh grads from all sorts of domains (including but not limited to Computer Science engineering // ICT) and discuss the state of FOSS in academia.
BoFs are supposed to be interactive in nature so we (moderators) will only set some direction for discussion and let the audience take it forward.
FOSS - What, Why and How
What software do institutes/students use today for different subjects
Brainstorming possible FOSS integrations in the above discussed list of proprietary tools
Curriculum integration (get credits for contributing/working on FOSS)
Challenges, mythbusting on FOSS adoption
Tangible next steps
Why does FOSS make sense in academia
We will come up with a list of FOSS alternatives that complement existing proprietary solutions
How to integrate FOSS contributions in academic curricula
LGTM. I like the detailed references.
