Software Defined Radio: See the Waves, Sniff the Air
Approved
Session Description
Note: All I have is 2 weeks of experience with SDRs.
I want to share about this cool technology that all Set-Top Boxes technically have i.e. the ability to tune into certain frequencies.
The talk will include the following topics:
- How to get yourself an SDR (Licensing Aspects)
- What is an SDR?
- Scanning FM Bands
- Shortwave Radio Listening (global stations, weather stations, etc.. )
- Police and Emergency Communications
- Listening to Air Traffic Control (ATC) --> a legal grey area.
- Live Tracking of Ships using AIS --> (https://x.com/arunmathaisk/status/1843734089045852467)
- Tracking Satellites ( Downloading Earth Images)
- GSM Traffic (Passive Interception) --> 2G is phased out in India
I would ideally like to show the live demos of all the above, but depending on antenna posting availability at the venue, the demo scope may vary :)
