FolkSage

Local Knowledge Documentation Platform is an open-source initiative to collect, preserve, and share indigenous and community-based knowledge. It empowers locals to document traditions, skills, and cultural practices, ensuring valuable wisdom is accessible for future generations.

Description

Overview

In every community, there is a treasure trove of knowledge—traditional practices, local remedies, farming techniques, folk stories, and cultural wisdom. However, much of this knowledge is at risk of being lost as generations move forward. Our Local Knowledge Documentation Platform (LKD) is designed to preserve, organize, and share this invaluable wisdom through an open-source, community-driven approach.

What the Platform Will Do

  • Collect Local Knowledge – Allow people to contribute their knowledge in the form of text, images, audio, and video.

  • Organize Information – Categorize knowledge based on region, topic, and tradition for easy access.

  • Verify & Curate – Ensure the authenticity of knowledge through community review and expert validation.

  • Provide Open Access – Make information freely available to everyone while respecting cultural sensitivities.

  • Encourage Community Engagement – Enable discussions, collaborations, and storytelling to keep knowledge alive.
