An interactive knowledge graph platform that preserves and maps the ritual, symbolic, and philosophical foundations of Indian classical dance traditions.
Kaladrishti is a Cultural Intelligence Platform designed to preserve, structure, and visualize the ritual knowledge embedded within Indian classical dance traditions.
Today, much of the depth behind classical dance forms such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kathakali, and Odissi is being reduced to choreography alone. The symbolic meanings of mudras, the emotional theory of rasa, temple traditions, ritual structures, and philosophical foundations are scattered across books, oral traditions, and guru lineages. As generational transfer declines, this structured cultural knowledge risks being fragmented or lost.
Kaladrishti addresses this problem by building an interactive Ritual Knowledge Graph that maps relationships between:
Rituals
Mudras
Rasas (emotional theory)
Deities
Temple traditions
Performance structures
The platform allows users to explore these relationships visually through an interactive graph interface. By selecting a dance form, users can see how ritual elements connect to emotional expression, symbolism, and performance progression.
Core features include:
• Interactive Knowledge Graph visualization
• Ritual Flow Timeline showing structural progression
• Mudra–Rasa mapping system
• Cultural Context explorer (origin, philosophy, symbolism)
• Contribution module for community knowledge preservation
The system uses a structured graph-based data model with a Flask backend API and a React frontend interface to dynamically render ritual intelligence in an accessible and engaging format.
Kaladrishti is not just a dance learning platform — it is an effort to digitally preserve and organize intangible cultural heritage using modern open-source technology.
By transforming oral and scattered ritual knowledge into structured, interactive intelligence, Kaladrishti contributes toward cultural preservation, research accessibility, and educational empowerment.
