Hive

A university Learning Management System (LMS) prototype built for FOSS Hack 2026

Description

Hive LMS is a university-focused Learning Management System developed as a prototype for FOSS Hack 2026. It is designed to streamline academic management by providing a centralized digital platform for institutions.

The system follows a multi-tenant architecture, allowing multiple universities to operate independently within the same platform while maintaining strict data isolation. Each institution has its own environment for managing users, courses, and academic resources.

Hive LMS implements role-based access control (RBAC) to ensure structured and secure interactions across different user types:

  • Chancellors (Admins): Oversee the entire institution, manage users, courses, and system-wide data

  • Teachers: Create and manage courses, assignments, announcements, and track student performance

  • Students: Access enrolled courses, submit assignments, view grades, and stay updated with academic activities

The platform focuses on:

  • Organized course and content management

  • Secure data handling between roles and institutions

  • Scalable architecture for future expansion

As a prototype, Hive LMS demonstrates a strong foundation for building a full-scale, secure, and scalable academic management system.
