IOT baes smart helmet with automated sos notification

The system detects crash events using an inertial measurement unit (IMU), obtains the rider’s location through a GPS module, and automatically sends an SOS alert with the crash notification and coordinates to predefined emergency contacts via a GSM communication module

Description

Smart Helmet project is to develop an intelligent helmet system that enhances rider safety by integrating embedded sensors, communication modules, and microcontroller-based processing. Road accidents involving two-wheelers often lead to serious injuries because emergency assistance is delayed. This project aims to reduce that delay by creating a system capable of automatically detecting accidents and sending immediate alerts to predefined contacts.

The helmet uses motion sensors such as an accelerometer and gyroscope to continuously monitor the rider’s movement and detect abnormal conditions like sudden impacts or falls. When a crash or severe collision is detected, the microcontroller processes the sensor data and determines whether it corresponds to an accident scenario
