When We Were Here

A digital archive where people send messages, memories, and predictions to the future, unlocking them years later as a record of human thoughts across time

Description

When We Were Here is a digital platform that allows people to send messages, memories, and predictions into the future, creating a living archive of human thoughts across time. Users can write messages, upload photos, or record ideas about the present moment and lock them until a chosen future date—such as 5, 10, or even 50 years later. When the unlock date arrives, the capsule automatically opens, revealing what people in the past thought, felt, and predicted about the future.

The platform functions not just as personal storage but as a global historical archive of human perspective. Users can create private capsules for their future selves or public capsules that others can explore once they unlock. Messages can also be geotagged to specific cities or locations, allowing people in the future to discover what others once said about their city, society, or world.

Over time, the platform becomes a digital archaeological record of humanity—capturing hopes, fears, predictions, and everyday moments from different places and generations. Features such as sentiment analysis can reveal the emotional tone of messages, while public prediction tracking allows users to see which forecasts about technology, society, or climate turned out to be accurate.

By preserving human perspectives across decades, Internet Time Capsule transforms ordinary messages into artifacts of the present for the historians of the future, creating a unique bridge between today and tomorrow.
